Birthstone Bonanza – Part 11 November
One of my dearest friends celebrates her birthday in November. So this post is for my beautiful friend Emma who can wear either Citrine or Topaz as her birthstone.

Birthstone Bonanza – Part 9 September
The word Sapphire comes from the Greek word, sappheiros, and means blue stone.
Sapphires are best known for their brilliant blue colour, though trace amounts of other elements in this stone can create pink, purple, and even yellow, orange, or green colours. Sapphires in some instances, are colourless.
Birthstone Bonanza – Part 8 August
Peridot is a beautiful and plentiful gem, and the only gemstone to occur in one colour, green. It ranges from bright lime and yellow green tones to brown and olive greens. It is thought Peridot may have originated in Ancient Egypt.
It is also the birthstone for August.
Birthstone Bonanza – Part 7 July
The Ruby is the birthstone for July.
Rubies range in colour from the expensive deep, pure, vivid red to red stones with either pink, purple or even orange tones.

The captivating Emerald is the birthstone for May. The word Emerald comes from the Ancient Greek word for green, smaragdus.
According to the Gemological Institute of America, the first known Emerald mines were in Egypt, dating from at least 330 BC, and Cleopatra herself was known to have a passion for Emeralds.

The Diamond is one of the best-known gemstones and it comes from the Ancient Greek word meaning unbreakable. Diamond is the birthstone of April. Diamond mythology gives victory to anyone who wears a one on their left arm.

Aquamarine is the birthstone of March. The word Aquamarine is derived from the Latin words aqua, meaning water, and marina, meaning of the sea.
According to the International Colored Gemstone Association, legend says it originated in the treasure chest of mermaids, and has been regarded as the sailors’ lucky stone.
